Participating in music has taught me to take chances and to make the most of life’s opportunities! Then I get to say “Hey I can do this!” and it’s really cool.

~Selam Pelley, MSSC student

Music lessons have helped both my sons a great deal. It has helped with focus and to calm them when they are stressed. Music lessons have especially helped my son who has autism. Introducing an instrument at an early age has helped build confidence in him and encourages interactions with others, which is something that is very difficult for most children with autism. It is something that fills his soul without having to compete with anyone else.

~ Victoria Walsh, MSSC parent

“Perhaps it is music that will save the world!” were the words of cellist Pablo Casals as quoted by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki. How can music make a difference in our young people, our communities and by extension, our world? Selam and Owen’s mom offer examples of how music allows young people to not only achieve success, but also to grow as citizens and to experience a deeper connection to one another!

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we depend upon support from our friends and community members to make it all possible. Your year-end donation will allow more students to experience the positive impact that music imparts. A gift of $25 can help a child who otherwise couldn’t afford to attend a masterclass. A $40 donation can help to refurbish a viola for a student to use. $100 can allow an inner-city student to experience what it means to practice and perform great quartet music of the masters opening his eyes to a whole new world of musical and personal growth! Your gift of $200 helps us tune and service pianos for our students’ use. A gift in any amount will help us strive toward making music more accessible for children and families of all backgrounds.

At MSSC, we are a community of music students, teachers, staff members, families and supporters and we are thankful that you are part of this special group. MSSC is a community organization and we exist to impact the lives of our students and help them become the best they can be. We not only train successful, talented musicians but we help them become amazing people!

Gifts are put to work immediately to cover essential academic costs. They sustain MSSC’s tradition of academic excellence and musical richness. Your gift is extremely important to our school and we are very grateful to you for helping our school succeed in supporting our students. Our teachers, staff, Board of Directors and our volunteers who work so hard to nurture our school and musicians join us in thanking you for your generous support.
